Auburn, Calif.- A caretaker working in an Auburn residential recovery center was arrested Wednesday for using a resident’s bank card to make purchases at local stores. Her crime was caught on store surveillance.ย

Amanda Marie Sinnott, 29, of Placerville, was an employee at Westview Healthcare in north Auburn when the 69-year-old victim discovered his bank card missing and about $1,300 had been deducted from his account from two Auburn stores.

After the victim contacted the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies viewed the store video and showed the female suspect’s photo to her employer.

Deputies interviewed Sinnott when she returned to work. She was cooperative and was arrested and booked at the Placer County Jail on charges of burglary, committing a financial crime against the elderly, fraudulent use of a bank access card and possession of stolen property. She remains in custody and her bail is set at $50,000.
