Jamie Wayne Wilson, 34, of Woodland was identified as a suspect in two robberies of Placer Sierra Bank, 1259 Pleasant Grove Blvd. Wilson, who is now deceased, was suspected of robbing the Roseville bank on September 4 and again on September 11.

The Placer County District Attorney’s Office was about to request an arrest warrant for Wilson, charging him with both robberies.  Before the paperwork could be filed, Wilson died. Wilson had been incarcerated in the Sacramento County Main Jail since September 20, and was found hanging in his cell on October 25.

Roseville Police Chief Mike Blair said, “While the circumstances of Mr. Wilson’s death are unfortunate, we felt it was important for the community to know that a suspect had been identified and incarcerated, and would have been charged for these crimes.”

Wilson was suspected of being a serial bank robber nicknamed “the X-Games Bandit,” because he rode away from robberies on a BMX-type bicycle or skateboard. Before his death, Wilson was also charged with two robberies of River City Bank in Woodland on July 25, 2007 and on August 27, 2007, and with the robbery of Safe Federal Credit Union on Walerga Road in Sacramento County on August 30, 2007.

The robbery series was being investigated by the Sacramento Violent Crimes Task Force, which includes the FBI and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, and by the Roseville Police Department and the Woodland Police Department.
