Rocklin, Calif. – On May 27th, just after midnight, an infant child was found abandoned in a crate behind the Rocklin Fire Department at Station 3401 Crest Drive.ย

Officers from the Rocklin Police Department responded and began an investigation.

The infant was a white male and appeared to be full term.  The infant appeared to have been born within the previous few hours and appeared to be healthy.  Officers contacted CPS and the child was taken to an area hospital for treatment and follow up care.  The infant is currently in stable condition.

The Safely Surrendered Baby Law was permanently signed into law in 2006.  The intent of the law encourages parents or persons with lawful custody of newborn infants to safely surrender the infant within 72 hours of birth at a safe surrender site.

This is the first known incident of an infant being dropped off at a Rocklin Fire Station.
