Christmas Tree Recycling

Auburn, Calif.- The City of Auburn is providing the following guidelines regarding Christmas tree drop off and recycling. Residents are encouraged to recycle.

To recycle your tree, remove all decorations and lights and take the bare tree to one of the options provided to residents:

1. Unflocked Christmas trees can be cut up and placed inside your green waste container. Please do not overfill the container; all materials must fit completely inside the can with the lid closed. The green waste container will be picked up during the normal pick-up schedule.

2. Auburn Transfer Station will accept Christmas trees through January 21, 2013 from 8 am to 5 pm. Residents can drop off their trees for free at 12305 Shale Ridge Road. Questions please call 530-885-3735.

3. City of Auburn Fire Department will accept Christmas trees for chipping ONLY on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Maidu Fire Station. Residents can drop off their trees for free at 901 Auburn-Folsom Road from 8 am to 1 pm. No trees will be accepted prior to December 29th.
