Volunteers needed for Feed My Starving Children Meal Pack

Rocklin, Calif. – A local effort to provide more than 500,000 meals to malnourished children around the world is now looking for a few good volunteers – quite a few, in fact.

This year, Feed My Starving Children will pack a record number of meals in the Sacramento region, which means they will need a total of 2,900 volunteers to help pack meals over a three-day period, from Oct. 22-24.

The Feed My Starving Children MobilePack(tm) event will be held at William Jessup University in Rocklin on October 22-24, with shifts taking place during the day, in the evening and on a Saturday.

“This is a wonderful family-friendly event,” said Alexia Hall, one of the organizers of this year’s event. “If you have never volunteered at the MobilePack event, it’s a wonderful experience, especially when you are making a difference in children’s lives all around the world. We are going to pack a record amount of meals this year, so we need more volunteers than ever. This packing event is a way to bring awareness to global hunger and to give back as a community.”

To cover the cost of 540,000 meals, organizers are working to raise the $110,000 needed. So far, organizers have commitments for nearly $73,000. Wells Fargo is the lead sponsor the event, paying the cost of more than 45,000 meals.

If you would like to register, it will go live on Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. on this website: www.sacfmscmobilepack.org.

Feed My Starving Children is a Christian non-profit that distributes culturally-neutral, nutritious meals to nearly 70 countries through more than 70 missions and humanitarian agencies. In most cases, the free food is used to operate orphanages, schools, clinics, and community feeding programs that contribute to long-term community development. Ninety-two percent of donations to FMSC go directly to the food program.
