Rocklin Police Nab Suspected Burglars from Sacramento

On 11-9-13 between nine and eleven PM, officers took four auto burglary reports in the area of the Blue Oaks Town Center and Staybridge Suites Hotel parking lots.  The suspect/s smashed the car windows to gain access and took GPS units, wallets and other assorted items left in plain view.

One of the victims learned her credit card had been used at the nearby Carl’s Jr for $120.00 within minutes of her making the police report.  Officers made contact with the restaurant manager who remembered  a large drive-through food order paid for by credit card.  The manager obtained a license plate number and described the subjects to the police.  The vehicle was a 1994 Buick registered out of Sacramento.   The manager added that she thought one of the students was a local high school student and thought the photos might be uploaded onto an Instagram account.

Day shift patrol officers and a Community Service Officer were able to locate the Instagram photos from the Carl’s Jr transaction.  They also learned the suspects were intent on returning to Rocklin on the evening of 11-10-13.

On 11-10-13 At approximately 2100 hours, an officer observed the suspect vehicle as it sped by him on Sunset Blvd.  The vehicle pulled into Walgreen’s parking lot at Park Drive and Sunset Blvd.  Officers detained three adults and one juvenile.  During a search of the vehicle, stolen property was recovered from the burglaries on 11-9-13 as well as property from an unreported Roseville auto burglary that occurred within an hour of the detention.  Three adults and one juvenile were arrested and booked for Auto Burglary, Conspiracy, Possession of Stolen Property and Unauthorized Use of Personal ID.

Adults Arrested

  • Tavion Spignor 8-3-94, Sacramento
  • Leroy Jackson 12-15-87, Sacramento
  • Malek Morgan 4-12-93, Sacramento

Rocklin’s Chief of Police Ron Lawrence was extremely pleased by his department’s investigation and arrests.

“This was an excellent police investigation by members of the Rocklin Police Department, and demonstrates the high-caliber of personnel we have. They used keen investigative techniques, technology, patience, and good old fashioned police work to catch these criminals. Bravo to our men and women in blue! I am proud to be their chief.” – Rocklin Chief of Police Ron Lawrence

With the upcoming Holiday Season, this is a reminder to never leave property visible in parked cars.
