Rocklin, Calif. – As part of the Rocklin Community Festival Celebration, the 2014 Rocklin Founders Parade takes place this Saturday, May 17th.

This year’s parade theme is “Rocklin Founders Day”; celebrating the naming of Rocklin in 1864 by the Central Pacific RR.

The parade starts atย 5 pm Sat May 17th at Spring View School 5040 5th St, south along 5th St to Johnson-Springview Park.

At 4:30 pm Saturday,ย Immediately prior to the start of the parade there will be a ceremony at the announcer’s stand located at the entrance toย  Johnson-Springview Park at 5th and C Streets.

Dan Gayaldo, co chairman of  of the Old Town Tree Lighting Committee, will be the announcer.

Mr. Scott Moore, representing the Union Pacific RR,  will present the mayor with Union Pacific  “Train Town USA”  recognition.
Assemblywoman Beth Gaines will be on hand to help celebrate the 150th anniversary of the naming of a place called Rocklin on Central Pacific Time Card #1.
 
Parade Highlights: 8 Old timers (85 years plus) will ride in parade. Spring View Jazz Band. Horses, wagons and a longhorn steer,  Wells Fargo Stage Coach, Cars and Trains.  Jeeps as a tribute to Armed Forces Day, Service Clubs, pre-schools, 

Line 5th Street to View the parade. See the parade, stay for the festival and fireworks.
 
Festival runs from Thursday thru Sunday 120 different Food, Craft & Business Vendors. Live music Fri/ Sat comedy show Thursday
