A fire broke out Monday afternoon at 1:49 p.m. at Mallard Industries 10,000 square foot facility in the industrial section of Rocklin on Duluth Avenue off Nichols Drive. Over 50 regional firefighters responded to the sawdust blaze according to Cal Fire spokeswoman Chelsea Fox.
All employees were safely evacuated and firefighters were expected to remain on site during the early evening hours to douse any hots spots. Media access to the property was restricted as several TV stations vied for coverage, with one TV reporter claimed being chased off the property by the owner. Adjacent businesses appeared to be operating normally.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and under investigation.
