PRIDE Industries Receives Award in Developing Human Potential

Roseville, CA. – PRIDE Industries, a leading employer of people with disabilities, was recently awarded the NISH Performance Excellence in Developing Human Potential Award for its work promoting the upward mobility of people with severe disabilities. PRIDE accepted the award at the NISH National Training and Achievement Conference Awards Banquet May 14, 2009 in Atlanta, GA.

NISH is a national nonprofit agency whose mission is to create employment opportunities for people with severe disabilities by securing Federal contracts through the AbilityOne Program for its network of community-based, nonprofit agencies. The AbilityOne Program is a public/private partnership created by congress, dedicated to providing employment opportunities for people who are blind or have other severe disabilities.

At the banquet, NISH recognized highly successful individuals, nonprofit agencies, government agencies, and businesses for their work to create jobs and opportunity for people with disabilities. PRIDE’s proven track record of successful employment and promotion of people with disabilities on AbilityOne contracts, within its organization and in local communities across the nation led to the nomination and acceptance of this award.

PRIDE’s unique person-centered approach to train, develop, support and promote people with disabilities results in jobs for persons formerly considered unfit for employment.

“PRIDE is a national leader in creating jobs and opportunity for people with disabilities and fully exemplifies the spirit of the Performance Excellence in Developing Human Potential Award,” said Bob Chamberlin, NISH President and CEO. “PRIDE’s work impacts thousands of people with disabilities annually and creates positive change in the many communities in which they operate,” Chamberlin added.

“We at PRIDE are honored to be recognized by NISH for our mission to create jobs for people with disabilities, embodied by our culture of support for our employees, our customers, and our community,” says Michael Ziegler, President/CEO of PRIDE Industries.

PRIDE Industries is a nonprofit organization providing a variety of business solutions to meet the manufacturing and service needs of business and government agencies nationwide. PRIDE employs more than 4,300 individuals across 12 states and in the nation’s capitol, including more than 2,700 people with disabilities. PRIDE is a self-sustaining business with over $150 million in annual revenue and ranks as the third largest manufacturing and service company in the greater Sacramento region.
