PlacerArts is pleased to announce the acceptance of Placer County’s high school California Arts Scholars into the prestigious 2013 California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA).
2013 CSSSA California Arts Scholars are Sierra Adrian of Colfax, Visual Arts; Cloe Allin of Rocklin, Dance; Olivia Wildman of Colfax, Visual Arts and Kaitlyn Ziarkowski, Creative Writing. Thursday, June 13, at 6 pm, Placer County Supervisors Chair, Jim Holmes, will honor each student with the California Arts Scholar medallion, emblazoned with the seal of the Great State of California. The awards ceremony takes place in Central Square, downtown Auburn.
Selected through a rigorous process, these outstanding high school students demonstrated artistic excellence in one of seven disciplines: Animation, Creative Writing, Film, Dance, Music, Theatre and the Visual Arts. Only 500 of more than 1500 applicants were accepted throughout the State of California. CSSSA offers a unique opportunity for students to spend one month immersed in a creative laboratory experiencing the inspiring and rigorous daily life of a professional artist. As a bridge from high school to college, the program offers graduates three units of California State University course credit and names them “California Arts Scholars” which distinguishes CSSSA graduates from their peers as they proceed to college and an arts career.
The intensive four week session of the California State Summer School for the Arts begins July 13, 2013 on the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) campus in Valencia, CA.
