Lincoln Bypass Ribbon Cutting Celebration

Lincoln, Calif.- The Placer County Transportation Planning Agency (PCTPA) celebrated the next phase of the Highway 65 Lincoln Bypass yesterday morning with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

PCTPA Chairman and Placer County Supervisor Jim Holmes was joined by California Transportation Commissioner Jim Earp, Caltrans District 3 Director Jody Jones, PCTPA Executive Director Celia McAdam, and Lincoln Mayor Gabriel Hydrick to mark the occasion.  This next phase of the project converts 5.5 miles of two lane highway, from Nelson Lane to north of W. Wise Road, to four lanes of median separated highway (2 in each direction).  The additional median separated lanes improve mobility and increase safety for motorists traveling along the Bypass.

“PCTPA is very excited to open this phase of the Lincoln Bypass project,” said Celia McAdam, Executive Director of the PCTPA.  “The Lincoln Bypass has been an economic driver for the cities of Lincoln, Roseville and Rocklin and this phase of the project continues to open opportunities for better access and connections to housing, jobs and shopping.”

The Lincoln Bypass opened to traffic in October 2012 after more than 20 years of planning.  The 11.7 mile Bypass begins at Industrial Boulevard, moves traffic around the City of Lincoln, and connects back to the existing Highway 65 near Sheridan.

Crews will continue working through the weekend to open the two new southbound lanes to traffic early Sunday morning.  One northbound lane will be available until restriping on the existing southbound lane is completed.  All four lanes are expected to be open within the next two weeks.

Completion of this phase of the project was accomplished through partnerships between the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency, Caltrans, the City of Lincoln, Placer County, the South Placer Regional Transportation Authority, and the federal government.
