Extraordinary family-friendly experience

TRUCKEE, Calif. – This season, visitors to North Lake Tahoe are invited to participate in an extraordinary experience under the winter night sky as Tahoe Star Tours hosts a series of memorable evenings that pair snowshoeing and stargazing. Scheduled to take place at Northstar California Resort and on Lake Tahoe’s north shore with Tahoe Adventure Company, Snowshoe Star Tours events will feature a captivating evening in the outdoors learning about the night sky, and are geared toward guests ages 8+.

“This season, participants in our snowshoe stargazing events will learn about star formation and galactic star clusters,” said Tony Berendsen, owner and producer of Tahoe Star Tours. “Thanks to limited light pollution that makes for incredibly dark skies, North Lake Tahoe truly is an ideal place for stargazing. I’ve been leading stargazing tours in the region for 20 years, and there’s nothing that compares to being able to share this unique astro-tourism experience with those visiting Lake Tahoe and Truckee.”

Berendsen leads every tour, with each one featuring a lively science-based talk about the cosmos and poetry reading, followed by the opportunity to view constellations through high-powered, professional telescopes. Manufactured by Celestron, the world’s leading telescope manufacturer, the large aperture telescopes use leading edge computerized technology enabling sharp, accurate pointing and tracking, with optics for clear, clean images.
