Candidate Urges Investigations in Veterans Scandal

Air Force veteran and candidate for Attorney General, Senator Phil Wyman, urged California’s Attorney General, Kamala Harris, to investigate Veterans Administration Hospitals.

Across the nation whistleblowers have claimed deaths of veterans caused by delays in medical care due to long, secret waiting lists.  Bonus seekers may have intentionally misfiled, stashed or destroyed 1,200 vet medical files, according to Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) and two Democrats. Attorneys General in the USA routinely prosecute Medicaid fraud. Individuals at VA hospitals are accused of fraud and worse. Their acts appear intentional, wanton, or reckless, at best gross negligence. U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL) has asked U.S. Attorney General Holder to work with state attorneys general to investigate deaths at VA facilities to assess criminal charges.

“If the deaths of veterans occurred through not just negligence… but worse, such as recklessness, that could be criminal under state law,” says former DOJ official and California law professor John Yoo.

California AG Harris has prosecuted nonprofit and private hospitals for lesser violations. She refuses prosecution of public officials in the Legislature, in California cities and now apparently public hospitals. She is locked at the hip with trial lawyers seeking to increase the liability of doctors as proven by her phony ballot title and summary of lawyer proposed changes to California’s successful MICRA law.

Similarly, Eric Holder, US Attorney General, like dead Americans in Benghazi, is in no rush.  “[W]e’ll see what happens … ([in] inspector general)…inquiry and other information …But I don’t have any announcements …[about] anything that the Justice Department is doing.” Terrorists at Gitmo receive 23 times better health care than vets. That is 150 inmates there have 100 health care professionals assigned to them. The terrorist patient-to-health care provider ratio is 1.5 to 1 while for vets it is 35 to 1.

Former assistant U.S. attorney Andrew McCarthy sees “a RICO indictment with fraud … to give the jury a theme … Fraud runs through the VA scandal. …” Democrat Connecticut Senator, prosecutor and former Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, says of “criminal wrongdoing, falsifying records, false statements…That’s a crime.” Up to five years in federal prison.

Senator Phil Wyman is an Air force veteran, who served in the Philippines delivering paychecks to Vietnam,  is a member of the American Legion and had a pro-vet voting record in the California Legislature.
