Sacramento, Calif.- At 5:20PM yesterday (May 18, 2014), an employee at a local truck stop located in the 2800 block of El Centro Road, contacted the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department to report that a baby had been left in a carrier on the sidewalk at the location.
Deputies responded to find the employees caring for a 6-week old female infant. Witnesses reported seeing a male and female subject with the infant earlier who both went separate ways and left the location approximately 45 minutes earlier. The child was transported to the UCD Medical Center to be medically evaluated.
Nearly ninety (90) minutes later, the mother of the infant returned to the scene. Christina Reed, 36, of Lake County was questioned and arrested for felony child endangerment. The father of the child is being sought by detectives for questioning.
The infant has been placed in protective custody with Child Protective Services. Anyone having information related to this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau at (916) 874-5115.
