Granite Bay, Calif. – Customers in San Juan Water District’s retail service area reduced their December water use by 26.4 percent. Our cumulative reduction since Governor Brown enacted mandatory restrictions now adjusts to 36.1 percent.
“Although we did not reach our mandated percentage in December, our customers have worked hard to continue saving during difficult winter months,” said Shauna Lorance, general manager.
The State Water Resources Control Board’s current mandate remains in place through February. Governor Brown’s recent executive order extends the statewide conservation requirements through October 2016 if drought conditions persist through January.
San Juan Water District encourages customer conservation through programs, services and communication efforts. Some programs available include water audits (indoor/outdoor), rebates, landscape irrigation reviews, leak detection and a free water use tracker where customers can log in to explore their water use.”During the winter months when we experience measurable rainfall, we ask our customers to turn off outside irrigation and practice some indoor winter water saving tips,” said Lisa Brown, customer service manager.
