Roseville Police detectives have arrested a 20-year-old Roseville man on suspicion of robbing a bank, and of falsely reporting an emergency. Detectives believe the suspected bank robber called 911 about 15 minutes before the bank robbery, to falsely report an emergency on the other side of town from the bank.
At approximately 10:10 a.m. Tuesday morning, February 7, the Wells Fargo Bank at 8850 Sierra College Blvd. was robbed. The robber entered the bank, gave a clerk a note demanding money, took an undisclosed amount of cash and left, last seen fleeing on foot. The note mentioned a gun, but no weapon was seen, and no one reported being injured.
The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’5″ tall with a slim build. He wore a long black wig, black clothing and a green backpack. No vehicle was seen.
Roseville officers conducted an extensive search, but weren’t able to locate the suspect in the area of the robbery. Detectives continued to follow up on leads, including the earlier false report of an emergency, and at about 6 p.m. arrested a suspect in Folsom. Ogan Gencer, 20, of Roseville is being held in the Placer County Jail on $50,000 bail, on suspicion of robbery, burglary (entering a building with the intent to commit a felony), and making a false report of an emergency.
