Auburn, Calif.- Directors of the Placer County Water Agency on Thursday (May 16) approved a debt restructuring that is expected to save the agency $1.3 million over the 20-year repayment period.
Director of Financial Services Joseph Parker said the refinancing would cover a 2003 bond issue of $10 million. At current interest rates, the refinancing would bring the agency an annual savings of $140,000, Parker said.
In other business, directors:
- heard an update from Senior Engineer Tony Firenzi on studies of water demand within the PCWA Zone 1 service area. The agency is tracking seasonal and parcel size water usage in 12 specific neighborhoods in order to better plan future system needs and to meet usage reductions as called for by the state. approved a final supplement to the agency’s Middle Fork American River Project environmental study, completed under terms of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The supplement covers proposed conditions to be included in the agency’s new federal power license.
- welcomed Beth O’Brien of The Auburn Journal and Gold Country Media who outlined an expanded distribution plan for the annual “Fire & Water” special newspaper section of which PCWA is a cosponsor. Directors authorized up to $5000 for the outreach effort, which includes a press run of more than 46,000, with additional first-time distribution in Lincoln and Roseville.
- approved a $500 sponsorship for the 2013 Placer County Agricultural Tour, which is planned for Thursday, May 30. Elisa Noble, executive director of the Placer County Resource Conservation District, said the tour will explore Placer County’s working landscapes.
