Roseville, Calif.- In a special tribute to the brave 403 New York firefighters and police officers who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, the Roseville Fire and Police Departments will participate in a unique ceremony.ย  Other local public safety agencies are also expected to participate.

At 8:46 a.m., – the exact time American Airlines Flight 11 struck World Trade Center North Tower I – firefighters and police officers will begin silently lining up in the stairwell of Roseville’s six-story fire training tower.

Standing shoulder to shoulder, police and firefighters will pass fire helmets and empty holsters representing the fallen heroes up the stairwell. Once the helmet or holster reaches the tower roof, it will be ‘laid to rest’.  Once each helmet and holster has reached the rooftop, a bell will be rung .

The Roseville Fire Training Center is located at 2030 Hilltop Circle.
