Today, April 6, at about 11:31 a.m., North Tahoe Fire personnel and Placer County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Northstar Ski Resort to assist Ski Patrol. Initial reports stated Ski Patrol was working a traumatic ski accident.
North Tahoe Fire personnel quickly arrived on scene and pronounced Marc L. Coleman, 67, of Van Nuys, CA, deceased at the scene.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Coroner’s division took charge of the investigation and took custody of the decedent. Deputy coroners on scene determined this to be an apparent accidental ski death, although an autopsy may be pending. The decedent was wearing a helmet.
Next of kin have been notified.
