At 5:05 p.m. Sunday, April 27, Roseville police officers and Roseville firefighter-paramedics responded to a collision between an SUV and a motorized wheelchair on Washington Boulevard at Pleasant Street.

A 53-year-old Roseville man was driving a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder SUV northbound on Washington Boulevard when he collided with Ramon Esparza-Morales, age 65 of Roseville, who was crossing Washington Boulevard westbound in a motorized wheelchair in the crosswalk at Pleasant Street.

Mr. Esparza-Morales was taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he was later pronounced dead.  Neither alcohol nor other drugs appear to have played a role in the collision.

The collision is under investigation by the Roseville Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
