Auburn, Calif. – The Placer County Board of Supervisors recently approved two agreements to continue providing critical visitor and tourism marketing services in the county.
A contract between the Office of Economic Development and the Placer County Visitors Bureau in the amount of $325,000 has been extended to continue providing tourism promotion.
Key tasks for this contract include marketing services, maintaining a comprehensive event calendar, outreach to the Bay Area and promotion of increased train travel, continued collaboration with the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association and mid-week bus tours, maintaining a strong presence across multiple social media platforms and building a new website.
The board also approved a funding agreement for $120,000 with the Truckee/North Tahoe Transportation Management Association for the operation of the North Lake Tahoe Express in eastern Placer County.
Focused on an ongoing effort to improve general traffic and transportation conditions in the Tahoe area, the NLTE offers airport shuttle service to and from Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
TMA will oversee day-to-day management and operation of the shuttle service, along with promotional support, driver training and reporting on ridership.
Funding for these contracts comes from transient occupancy tax dollars, which are collected from overnight guests by hotel and lodging facilities throughout Placer County.
