Abracadabra: Steve Miller Band at Harvey’s
Guest Post via Brandon Contreras
Stateline, NV- Harvey’s Outdoor Amphitheater South Lake Tahoe is always a prime spot to catch a live show. This weekend’s sampling? Steve Miller Band with guest Marty Stuart and his Fabulous Superlatives. A bit of classic rock meets country. Grammy Award winner Marty Stuart kicked off the show with rollicking country western. His backing band the Fabulous Superlatives, dressed to the nines in bright blue matching sequined suits complete with orange ruffled scarves, completed the foot stomping vibe! Kenny Vaughn on guitarโฆ Oh so good!
To a near packed house Steve Miller Band opened their set with favorites The Stake, Jungle Love, and Abracadabra. The crowd sang along with all the lyrics at near fever pitch while energetically dancing. Steve moved into a more story-teller mode for Living in the USA and Space Cowboy. He told a version of the history of American music, country music colliding with jazz and blues. He was joined for a few songs by Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives. For roughly four songs midway through the set the two bands jammed comfortably bringing the crowd again to its feet, clapping and dancing the entire time.
Steve Miller Band sounded perfect! Their timeless classics amplified amazingly well through venue sound. Steve vocalsโฆ much near the same as you’d experience on any of his albums.
By the time encore rolled around the opening riffs of Jet Airliner had the crowd yelling, clapping and dancing with excitement. Amazing show overall. We look forward to catching the band again in the near future.
