Monophonics

Monophonics deliver the funk

San Rafael,CA- As the mercury pushed into the 70’s this past Friday, music fans began slowly dancing their way toward Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael.

The afternoon celebration that wound through the night marked the 420 holiday which passes as mostly just another chill day in these parts of Marin County noted for being the headquarters of the Grateful Dead. The super-friendly and relaxed vibe at Terrapin masks an unmistakable excitement that lies just below the surface. Simply put, people of all ages are thrilled just to hang out here.

On this night, the main attraction turned into one of the most impressive live acts we’ve ever encountered. The Monophonics, a 10 piece band with a 4 piece horn section from the Bay Area that delivers an intense full night of 70’s style funk that had the crowd dancing up a storm as strangers openly hugged and high-fived each other in pure delight. Fans in attendance understood that they were experiencing a very special band. We were in full agreement.

If you enjoy a taste of hi-performance 70’s style funk with killer grooves, The Monophonics may just move to the top of your list.

Among the Very Best Live Bands

As the legendary owner Al Bell of Stax Records is quoted as saying about the Monophonics,” “One of the best live soul bands I have ever seen!”

We’d kick that assertion up a notch and say Monophonics are one of the best live bands we’ve ever seen, period.
