Annual event a reminder that mental health, substance use recovery takes a village

Auburn, Calif. – As we recognize Overdose Awareness Day today, and commit to raising awareness and strengthening prevention, Placer County’s upcoming annual event will offer a hopeful message: Recovery happens, with the help of family, friends and loved ones.

You’re invited to witness how “Recovery Happens” on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Recreation Park, 123 Recreation Drive in Auburn. The theme of this year’s event, which celebrates recovery from both substance use and mental illness, is “recovery doesn’t happen alone.”

Celebrating success

This annual family-friendly event celebrates the success of local community members. People in recovery and their families, friends and other loved ones are encouraged to attend. Resources about treatment and recovery programs will be available. In addition to informational booths, the event will also include food, music, games and more activities.

The event is sponsored by Placer County Health and Human Services; Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board members; and numerous other community partners.
